In 1984, I received my BS in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis (then, Memphis State). I taught sixth grade for one year before taking time off when my daughter was born. When she started Kindergarten, I returned to teaching as a substitute teacher at Smith Elementary. After two years of substituting, I was hired in a full time position. I have been a third grade teacher at Smith Elementary School since 1993. I love third-graders!!! They are eager to learn and have a great attitude towards school. For many years, I taught all the subjects to my students. A few years ago, I started teaching Math and Science only. I miss the other subjects, but I have to admit that Math and Science are my favorite subjects. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, board games, traveling, and science fiction TV. When I am feeling adventurous, I hike and rock climb (on real cliffs!). I also have a black belt in Taekwando.
